Africa Medicines Impact Investment Fund (AMIIF) is established on the principle that investing in ventures that have both social and commercial returns can lead to significant development outcomes that are sustainable in the long run.
As the fund is a debt investor, investment capital is recycled. Coupled with intended financial returns this will mean that investors realise a sustainable and increasing social return on their investment. This is a major benefit to traditional donor funders as further funding is not required to continue achieving social return.
AMIIF aims to act as a catalyst for private sector investment in an arena previously dominated by public sector funding. Investment is available only to people meeting specific criteria.*
AMIIF is a Mauritius-domiciled limited liability investment company authorised under the laws of Mauritius to operate as an Expert Fund. There is no public market for the shares in the fund. Investment is available only to persons meeting the criteria of an “expert investor”, which includes: an investor who makes an initial investment, for his own account, of no less than US$100,000; or a “sophisticated investor” as defined in the Securities Act 2005 or any similar defined investor in any other securities legislation.
