The InfoHub is a collection of information services with a single point of access to collated public data on pharmaceutical procurement volumes and prices; product registration status and information about medicines registrations, suppliers and manufacturers.
This information can be accessed through various channels, including a smartphone application, the official SADC websites and the InfoHub Hotdesk.
This type of information has already been proven to save countries money in procuring medicines by being better informed to negotiate terms with suppliers, or to specify tenders.
The InfoHub is assisting SADC Member States to establish and strengthen information-sharing mechanisms that will be required for implementing the pooled procurement mechanism and for regulators to collaborate on medicines regulation.
The InfoHub team is also working closely with Civil Society on Tendai, a project that monitors medicines and pricing at the community level.
